When Yale announced the closure of their Castleside site earlier this year Margaret Keetsley of Consett who’d worked there for over 3 years was naturally unsettled. “I had been made redundant before and was really worried about being out of work” Margaret added “I knew it was time to change my career but I wasn’t sure what else I could do”

02 July 2008 - Walking mindfully back to work

People in Derwentside who are unemployed are being given the opportunity to learn mindfulness meditation to help them return to work. Truepotential in partnership with Derwentside Employment Team are offering the 5 week course throughout 2008 in an effort to address the stress and anxiety returning to the workplace can cause.

Shirley Concarr from Consett wanted to work but felt she was up against the world until she met Silvia from Derwentside Employment Team and they were able to face the challenges together.

When Lisa Cooke from the Card Shop needed to take someone on for her business in June this year she came to Derwentside Employment Team (DET) for help.
